The results of the year on the alcohol market do not yet give cause for pessimism, but the emerging decline in the volumes of some categories and the growth of others have given analysts reason to talk about a redistribution of consumer demand. Domestic producers, meanwhile, continue to optimistically develop import-substituting categories such as whiskey, gin, and even rum and tequila. Russian wine is on a separate path, as it is the focus of attention and preference on the part of the state and continues to increase its share on store shelves and in the consumer basket of Russians.
How will the spirits market develop in the near future in terms of the number of players and total production volume? How will changes in consumption affect inter-category “spillover” of production? When and in which segments is domestic wine most likely to replace foreign wine? Will the quality of domestic products improve?
Participants in the roundtable discussion “Competitors or allies? On the interdependence of alcohol market categories (wine, vodka, and other alcoholic beverages)” will attempt to answer all these questions.
